Equality for Women Measure 2000-2007
The Equality for Women Measure 2000-2006 was a positive action programme for women, led by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and funded through the National Development Plan 2000-2006. It was designed to promote pilot initiatives aimed at improving the economic, social, cultural and political lives of women.
The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform introduced an additional phase of the Equality for Women Measure having a particular focus on social exclusion in rural areas. As a result, funding, including European Social Funding, was earmarked for relevant projects which aim to work with women from designated CLÁR areas. CLÁR areas are areas of rural disadvantage which have been so designated by the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
